LAUREL, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aquilent,the recognized leading provider of Cloud, Web and Mobile solutions shaping the next generation of technology for the federal government, today announced that the re-designed HealthCare.gov, built with support from Aquilent, is live. The website - from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) - is the online destination for the Health Insurance Marketplace. The Marketplace will deliver a set of government-regulated and standardized health care plans from which individuals may purchase health insurance that is eligible for federal subsidies.

As a recognized pioneering solutions provider of innovative .Gov solutions in line with the Digital Government Strategy, Aquilent worked as the prime contractor to help re-design this innovative HHS website. The highly consumer-focused HealthCare.gov helps Americans understand their private healthcare choices and select the coverage that best suits their needs when open enrollment begins October 1. At that time, the website will include new functionality so that consumers will be able to create accounts, complete online applications, and shop for qualified health plans. Spanish speaking consumers will be able to utilize the parallel CuidadoDeSalud.gov for the same services. Key features of both websites include social media integration, content that can be easily shared, and collaborative resource links for consumers to get more information. The sites also feature web chat functionality for rapid communication. The sites are built with a responsive design to enable access via a multitude of platforms including desktops, smart-phones, and other mobile devices.

Aquilent played a major role in the support of the re-designed English and Spanish language sites including: technology strategy, cloud-based infrastructure design and implementation, project management, responsive design, user experience, content development and migration, Section 508 compliance for accessibility, testing, and authorization to operate (ATO) certification to help ensure compliance with rigid security requirements. Aquilent will continue to maintain and update HealthCare.gov and prepare for the opening of the Health Insurance Marketplace.

"HHS continues to set high benchmarks of excellence for engaging consumers and HealthCare.gov is a powerful example," stated Aquilent CEO David Fout. "With this new, enhanced site, the Health Insurance Marketplace offers a truly interactive and easy-to-use forum for consumers. Aquilent continues our track record of partnering with our customers by helping to guide the development of this innovative site and helping HHS further its important mission."
