OJP – Content Management System

To guide the Department of Justice's Office of Justice Programs (OJP) through the process of evaluating, selecting, designing, implementing, and deploying a content management solution.

Aquilent led the initial evaluation and selection of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Content Management Systems (CMS). In a short timeframe, Aquilent interviewed key stakeholders, studied the existing content lifecycle and analyzed OJP's use of technology.
Based on our analysis, Aquilent identified the business case for content management technology, as well as the functional requirements for the content management solution. We then helped OJP find the best CMS vendor to satisfy its functional requirements, ultimately recommending the chosen vendor (Rhythmyx). Aquilent's selected vendor satisfied OJP's functional requirements at nearly half the cost of leading competitors.
Aquilent then designed and implemented the content management solution, including:
Aquilent also led the development of the OJP taxonomy, which helped to categorize content, optimize search engine performance and push content dynamically to various Web site sections.
With the technical specifications in place, Aquilent installed and customized the CMS. This included integrating the Rhythmyx system with OJP's back-end security provider and email system. We developed custom content types, display templates, authoring interfaces, and workflow processes to support content contributors, managers, and owners across OJP.
Aquilent also provided the full range of change management and training services, including a detailed communication plan, classroom training sessions, documentation, help desk scripts, and hands-on training for system administrators.
