Public commenting from a federal government perspective gives U.S. citizens and community members an opportunity to provide feedback on proposed changes to items such as land use, structures, facilities, environmental planning etc. so that the federal government can understand all viewpoints before taking action.

Last week over 500 government web content managers, writers and editors grabbed their iPads and Blackberries and headed for downtown DC to attend the annual Government Web and New Media Conference. I was able to catch day one of the conference, which covered topics from high-level “where are we going” presentations to specific sessions on effective social media use and usability strategies.

So, I eat at Chipotle. A lot… And one thing that constantly impresses me is the speed and efficiency of their order preparation and payment operations. On most days, I’m looking at less than 60-75 seconds from the time I reach the top of the line to the time they hand me my to-go order and receipt.
