Aquilent / CENTECH Team Wins VA Enterprise Content Strategy
Task Order Awarded to Establish a Framework for the Implementation of an Enterprise Content Management System / 11.16.2006
                                                    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LAUREL, MD, November 16, 2006 – Aquilent, Inc., in conjunction with THE CENTECH GROUP, Inc. announced today the award of a task order to establish an integrated content strategy framework for VA’s Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS). The task order was awarded through CENTECH’s VA GITSS vehicle and has a base period of 9 months, with options for metadata and taxonomy development. This is one of a planned series of collaborative initiatives anticipated between CENTECH and Aquilent.

“The VA is a very strategic customer for us and this task order reflects the quality of our 3 year relationship,” said David Fout, Aquilent’s President and CEO. “We are committed to providing exceptional service to the VA and ultimately to our veterans.”

As the major subcontractor to CENTECH, Aquilent's efforts will include analyzing the existing content and current content production lifecycle; performing a broad content inventory; identifying content gaps, relationships and redundancies; developing content retirement processes and migration strategy; and establishing a roadmap for the ECMS implementation project. Aquilent will work closely with VA staff to identify business requirements and goals, evaluate the ”as-is” and document the “to-be” content lifecycles, create a comprehensive information architecture and content model, and formulate and implement a unified content strategy for the enterprise, all while leveraging the content management system progress VA has made over the past 18 months.

The work is being conducted as part of VA’s overall Web Hosting and Consolidation project, to implement a OneVA information technology framework that supports the integration of information across business lines and provide a source of consistent, reliable, accurate, and secure information to veterans and their families, employees, and stakeholders.

“The VA has an incredible volume of high quality information and content available to veterans and the public,” said Jay Costenbader, Aquilent’s VA Program Manager. “We are very excited to provide our experience to help VA take advantage of best practices for efficient and effective Enterprise Content Management.”

Aquilent also developed and supports VA’s agency-wide Electronic Contract Management System which allows Federal procurement professionals to manage the full contracting lifecycle. Additionally, Aquilent was recently awarded a contract to provide services for the development and enhancement of the VA’s My HealtheVet portal. My HealtheVet is a portal that gives veterans, their families and their healthcare providers easy access to health information, tools and services.
