The GSA / Aquilent Team's Refresh Effort Receives the Government Standard of Excellence
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LAUREL, MD, September 18, 2007 – GSA Office of Citizen Services and Communication (OCSC) and Aquilent, Inc. announced today, that USA.gov received the Government Standard of Excellence in the Web Marketing Association’s 2007 WebAwards. The international award recognizes USA.gov - the U.S. government's official web portal, as one of the most effective websites in Government today.
USA.gov was one of more than 1,000 web site entries from 19 countries, which were evaluated on design, innovation, content, interactivity, copywriting, ease of use and use of technology. The judges included nationally recognized members of the media, advertising executives, website designers, corporate marketing executives, content providers and webmasters.
The judges rated USA.gov above the industry (government) average in 6 of 7 categories evaluated on a scale of 0-10. The site scored particularly well for Ease of Use (8), Design (8), Content (9), Interactivity (9) and Copywriting (9). One judge commented about the site: "Surprisingly easy navigation considering the vast amount of information."
The award follows GSA’s launch of the redesigned USA.gov in May of 2007. Aquilent was engaged by GSA to provide services to design and test the user experience, information architecture, and branding for USA.gov and GobiernoUSA.gov. GSA’s goal was to implement a user-centric approach to redesigning the USA.gov and GobiernoUSA.gov sites and was looking for an experienced partner, such as Aquilent, to execute their vision. Aquilent provided complete user-centered design services for the user interface refresh of USA.gov and GobiernoUSA.gov.
“It is great to see GSA’s vision for accessible government information, and Aquilent’s passion for effective user experience, to be recognized by the WebAward judges,” said David Fout, Aquilent’s President and CEO. “USA.gov continues to be an example of using the internet for efficient and effective government.”
