Aquilent, Inc. announced today the execution of a contract modification by the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) to leverage the Aquilent-developed SeaPort-e portal for its University-Affiliated Applied Research Center's (UARC) contracts office.

Aquilent is a proud sponsor of the Website Evaluation Conference presented in part by Digital Government Institute. The conference theme, Making Web Services Integral to Agency Mission, held November 7-8, 2005 at George Washington University. Aquilent Senior Usability Consultant, Sean Fitzpatrick participated in the industry panel discussion on Current Trends and Future Developments.

Aquilent, Inc. announced today the award of a task order from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to provide a comprehensive analysis and redesign of CFTC.gov.

NCI contracted with Aquilent to build the Virtual Microscope (VM). The VM will allow the electronic sharing of microscope slide media. Glass slides will be digitally scanned, and made available electronically. Evaluators will complete pathological diagnostic evaluations electronically as well. While initially evaluations will consist solely of the data collected on online forms, eventually evaluations will also include annotations made directly on the images themselves.
The chief technical challenges of the system revolve around the interactive visualization and annotation of hundreds to thousands of very large images. Typical image sizes are on the order of 100 - 200MB compressed, with a nominal base image resolution on the order of 70K x 40K pixels.

The National Library of Medicine (NLM) has selected Aquilent to build the Radiological Event Medical Management (REMM) system.
With the recognition of the possibility of a future terrorist radiation attack, the Department of Health and Human Services has identified the urgent need to collect, categorize and make easily available to health care professionals relevant authoritative medical guidelines. While there are excellent resources on medical guidelines for radiation events, the materials are scattered across federal agencies and are not all available in an electronic format or accessible via the web. The Radiological Event Medical Management system (REMM) will provide a one-stop portal to medical information and guidelines on treatment and management of radiation events. The system will serve as a decision-making tool for health care professionals for evaluating and treating individuals exposed to any radiation event (e.g., accidental exposure, Radiological Dispersal Devices (RDD), Improvised Nuclear Device (IND)). Using algorithm-based medical guidelines, it will be used from the first acute evaluation through long-term management, including linkage with epidemiological follow-up. There is a broad range of exposure situations, isotopes and dosages, and REMM will provide easy access to allow the medical professionals to access the specific information they need. Additionally, it will provide information on training, radiological guidelines and procedures, and other information to facilitate medical professionals to prepare for radiation emergencies.
Aquilent will support the NLM's Specialized Information Services (SIS) Division in the software development of the REMM system. Aquilent will also design the system architecture and user interface, build the rules-driven system, and conduct testing.

Aquilent congratulates the Department of Labor (DOL) on receiving the highest score awarded for meeting the goals of the President's Management Agenda (PMA). The Office of Management and Budget recently assessed how Executive Branch organizations are meeting the goals of the five government-wide initiatives of the PMA. DOL received a "green" light on all five initiatives-the highest score awarded and the first time any department has met this high standard.
We applaud DOL and its employees for this tremendous achievement! Aquilent currently supports two significant DOL projects that contribute to the PMA goals.

It is our pleasure to announce that Aquilent rated a Maturity Level 2 of the Capability Maturity Model® Integration (CMMI®) V1.1 for all service delivery practice areas. The Software Engineering Institute (SEI) recognizes CMMI models as the best process improvement models for product and service development and maintenance. CMMI sets a worldwide benchmark for engineering and management process maturity.

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) Web site, USPS.com, received "The Best of the Web - Government" award for 2005 from the WiredSaftey Group, an independent organization. USPS.com, supported by Aquilent, was cited as having the most consumer-friendly Web site. WiredKids.com and WiredSafety also gave the Postal Inspection Service its "Wired Cops Award" for aiding in the successful recovery of a kidnapped child.

Aquilent was a sponsor at the 2005 FedWeb conference on May 24-25 in Arlington, VA. FedWeb is an annual conference for federal Web professionals, including Web managers and others responsible for overseeing an agency Internet or Intranet site.

Aquilent sponsored the 2005 Federal Acquisition Conference and Exposition (FACE) conference on June 8 in Washington, DC. Aquilent showcased high profile Federal acquisition projects currently underway at the Department of Labor, Department of Veterans Affairs, Naval Sea Systems Command, and others.

Aquilent Senior Information Architect Dan Brown will be a featured presenter at the American Society for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) IA Summit 2005 scheduled for March 3-7 in Montreal, Canada. The annual IA Summit is recognized as a key player in web, multimedia, software, and product design, and is the only conference dedicated to information architecture in all of its forms.

Aquilent announces the successful integration of the United States Department of Labor (DOL) Electronic Procurement System (EPS) and the GSA Advantage! Digital Marketplace.

The U.S. Postal Service's Carrier Pickup project, supported by Aquilent, Inc. was recognized as one of only seven government projects in the 2004 InfoWorld 100.
